AND I didn't have to kill anyone! SO it's all GOOD so far :D
I hope everyone had a great time over the holidays (if they had holidays :P) and that the New Year is starting out with great promise. May it continue to only improve thoughout the coming year <3.
I spent most of New Years' Eve day cleaning my Dad's place out a bit for him, and he decided to give me Mum's old Kenwood Chef (like the one in the eBay link). I cleaned it up and it still works fine. Mum never had all of the attachments - just the juicer, blender, whisk and "K" beater - but I see that they come up on eBay fairly regularly, so once I get moved and settled in, I might try and pick up a few more.
Maybe I can put it to good use once I get settled in up in Mackay.
For gifites I ended up with an MP3 player, a new digital camera, clothes, books (of course :P), a watch and some household stuff. It's all good, and I should be able to get pictures easily now :D

Now tell me you haven't thought the same thing :P
I'm not sure I'll believe you, but you can try me *g*
Or "My Complaints and Observations In Bullet Points".
- It is hot, and I hate having to clean up yard debris after the storm. And because of the rain, it's also humid.
- Packing sucks. I'm not packing this time, but I still have to sort out all of the crap so that I'm not carting it halfway up the state.
- YAY new federal opposition leadership team. That's exciting, because while we have Little Johnny as PM, we're fast heading towards becoming the 51st state of the Union... And there was no way Beazley/Macklin were going to be any sort of challenge. Rudd/Gillard are clever and popular. We'll be keeping our ears open.
- Kittens are cute.
- I want to upgrade my computer *pouts*. It's not new and shiny and doesn't have all the coolness that's available now. It works though, and keeps me connected to people I care about. So it does me for the time being.
- Who had the not-so-brilliant idea of making cookbooks in paperback format? They don't stay open at the right page, and that's really annoying when trying to cook something.
- Mr Almost-Seven has been listening to the Hilltop Hoods and has decided he wants to be a rapper. Sadly, rather than the next Eminem, I fear I've got the next Vanilla Ice on my hands...
- I also need a job with more hours. That's one thing to work on when we move.
- I have an Amazon Wishlist. Whoo. It's mainly for me, because I have the terrible habit of standing stupidly and saying, "I dunno", when people I know ask me what I want as a birthday/Consumerfest/insertrelevantholidayhere gift. So this is so I can remember the books I want, and the few other things I've seen and liked enough to think "Ooh, shiny!" But people have been asking, so it's here for them too. Besides, I'm not silly enough to say no if people want to buy me books. I'm good with used; it's cheaper.
And it means I can get more stuff for the same money :P. - That's about all I can think of now :P
Over the weekend my hubby was offered a promotion at work. It's what he's been working for over the past couple of years, but it's further afield than what we had really hoped for, given the state of my father's health lately. But even Dad himself said it was too good an oportunity to pass up. It's a promotion of at least a couple of levels, and the boss from that area asked him what sort of money he'd be looking at to be tempted. Hubby named a figure, and the boss didn't even twitch an eyelash. So it looks like we'll be moving sometime between Consumerfest and the New Year, as soon as the ink is dry on the contract, almost. We'll be living on the coast this time, which is what we really wanted, but further north than we had planned on going. Still, it's an area that I can get the uber cheap flights to and from, to go and visit Dad myself more often than I drag the family down there. From Brisbane it's about a 12 hour drive, so it certainly won't be a "drive down and back in a weekend" deal like we have now.
But I mean, does this look all that hard to take to you..?
Dunno about you, but I can live with that sort of thing.
Fair enough, we can't afford to live right on the water - we're talking between $500 and $700 a week rent for that kind of home - but if we're within a couple of kilometres for walking, or on the bus route, I can deal with that :D. But as it all depends on the availability of houses, we'll just have to see where we end up.
But whee, just checkin' out the cross-post to LJ feature. I'm excited. Are you excited? Bah, I am not really excited. I should be in bed now but ow ow ow ow hurties. So I am staying up a bit longer to whine to myself about it :P.
Whyfore can I not hear audio posts? I can upload them, but I can't make them play. Neither mine or anyone else's, since I just did an audio post search to try it out. Maybe it's my firewalls being a pain.
**note to self - Self, try disabling them tomorrow, you twit.
Love, Self.
Whatever the cause is, it doth sucketh.
This post was brought to you by late nights, Vodka Mudshakes, and the letter 'Zzzzzzzzz'.
EDIT: Not the firewalls. I dunno what it is :(
